Grano’s low-carbon roadmap towards net zero

Grano’s low-carbon roadmap towards net zero

Grano has published a low-carbon roadmap as part of its responsibility programme. The objective is to achieve net zero carbon emissions in our own operations and those of our value chain by 2050. The objective is also to respond to climate goals set by our clients, interest groups and society at large.

The low-carbon roadmap defines the steps towards emission reduction in the following areas from production to logistics and material choices. The key measures are
  • transferring to the use of renewable energy in our offices
  • developing our operations to reduce production waste and favouring locally produced materials
  • reducing emissions in vehicles, business travel, logistics and other transport solutions
  • engaging our partner network in shared climate goals.
The low-carbon roadmap helps us make the right decisions and take measures to make a real difference in terms of the environment. With the low-carbon roadmap, we can show our clients that we can offer practical solutions to help them achieve their own climate goals. The low-carbon roadmap also encourages our staff to develop everyday solutions with a difference,” Grano’s Managing Director Kimmo Kolari says.

The low-carbon roadmap has been drafted in cooperation with interest groups, and it is based on a calculation of Grano’s greenhouse gas emissions (GHG Protocol, Scope 1–3). Grano has reduced its carbon emissions since 2019, and 2023 is used as the reference year for the low-carbon roadmap. The work continues through continual monitoring and reporting. Starting from 2025, Grano will be publishing an annual responsibility report on its progress.

Furthermore, we take ESG responsibility matters into consideration in selecting our suppliers and cooperation partners. We encourage our staff to follow Grano Group’s Code of Ethics and environmental policy. We also focus on complying with waste hierarchy, preventing waste at the source, reuse and recycling.

We have previously published the Supplier Code of Conduct. In 2024, half of the electrical energy used in our offices came from renewable sources. All of our investments are also made with energy efficiency in mind. We have achieved the Ecovadis gold rating and developed our operations to reduce production waste. This year, we have introduced a policy favouring electric vehicles.

The low-carbon roadmap is part of Grano’s comprehensive responsibility programme to support Grano and its value chain in the transition towards more sustainable choices. Grano offers its clients the opportunity to reduce the carbon footprint of their own products by choosing low-carbon print materials, energy-efficient production and logistics as well as net-zero products and services (compensation).
